Goodfellow quits CNBC and Galey fills interim post

SINGAPORE: Scott Goodfellow has resigned as chief executive officer of CNBC Asia because of personal reasons.

There has been no official word about his departure, which has taken staff by surprise. However, sources within the business channel said Goodfellow's resignation was largely because he wanted to be closer to his family.

They said that since he assumed the role about 18 months ago, his family had remained in San Diego.

"After one-and-a-half years, he believed it was about time to return to the US,

one source said.

Goodfellow left the channel at the end of February, however, a replacement has yet to be named.

Shawn Galey, CNBC Asia's vice-president and general counsel, has been named acting chief executive officer, while the search for Goodfellow's successor continues.
