Finacle Conclave 2007 impressed with Penang

Finacle Conclave 2007 brought together 180 leaders in business, banking and technology for a three-day conference. The delegates from 25 countries shared best practices at interactive sessions, discussions, seminars and case studies from leading international banks. Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa was the selected venue.

Challenges
The resort put together a lively leisure agenda that had to allow enough time to network. The
highlight was dragon-boat racing. Other activities included a golf clinic and tournament on
the resort’s par-three golf course; watersports including sailing, boat cruises and jet skiing
organised in-house by the East Wind Watersports Centre; tai chi classes; and mocktail and
cocktail demonstrations.

Safety was crucial for the leisure activities. There was a doctor on standby with nurses, lifeguards, rescue boats and an ambulance in the event of an emergency.

Execution
The three-day conference kicked off with welcome cocktails and a dinner. Lunch and coffee breaks on the second day were followed by a themed gala dinner, Oriental Magic, by the beach.
After a half-day conference on the third day, delegates enjoyed lunch at the resort’s signature
restaurant Spice Market Café.
The delegate’s spouses were not left out. The resort planned a programme that was energetic
and entertaining. The itinerary included visits to Penang’s butterfly farm, tropical spice
garden, tours of Penang’s historic sites and shopping at the ‘Queens Bay’ centre, Penang’s biggest.

Throughout the conference, department heads, managers and their assistants were on hand to
chaperone delegates.

Verdict
“The resort team went the extra mile to ensure things went smoothly,” says Navin Rammohan, marketing manager of Finacle. “Everything from check-in to food and beverage arrangements made our forum a success. We were most delighted in the quality of service and friendliness of the staff. Delegates enjoyed the teambuilding activities and the whole event will be long remembered.”
