Spare a thought for Hong Kong's celebrities. They don't live the
charmed lives that the tabloids would have the public believe.
If anything, they could do with a big dose of love and affection at what
must be a low point in their career, with this bit of news just in.
Hong Kong once-beloved celebrities like Michael Wong and Leon Lai have
been usurped in the public's affection ... by, wait for this, three
little pigs and M&M candies.
That's what ATV's 7th Annual Most Popular TV Commercial has found.
SuneVision's "Three Little Pigs" campaign and M&M animation commercial
,where a man distresses a talking-feeling M&C candy by eating his first
girlfriend and relatives, pipped campaigns with heart-throbs like Eason
Chan (Ribena), Ritchie Yen (hongkong.com), Nicholas Tse (Coca-Cola and
Bossini) and Leon Lai (Hutchison). Only Andy Lau, (Ericsson) and Tony
Leung (San Miguel) made it to the top 10 list.
On the subject of fame, Ogilvy & Mather Singapore missed out on its
15-minute dose of it this year.
For an agency that normally scoops up a fair share of awards, O&M was
surprisingly absent this year. Turns out it was a victim of
sabotage ... a PA - make that an ex-PA - apparently "forgot" to send the
agency's entries to the various award shows.
A better PA next year.
