Dentsu seals Indian joint venture

MUMBAI - Japanese ad giant Dentsu has bolstered its digital presence in India after agreeing a joint venture deal with Mumbai-based Connecturf India.

The venture, christened Clickstreamers India, will be 51%-owned by Dentsu Communications, the group's Indian subsidiary, with Connecturf taking the remaining 49%. It will consolidate Dentsu's existing digital assets in India into a standalone specialist venture.

The agency will offer online media planning and buying, as well as web development work, search and mobile marketing. It will be headquartered in Mumbai, with offices in Delhi and Bangalore planned for the future. Clickstreamers will be headed by Takashi Koyanagi (pictured), who moves across from Dentsu.

The tie-up continues Dentsu's policy of expansion by joint venture. In March it launched a Chinese operation called Digit Ones, jointly owned with Focus Media.
