Cordiant's health practice rolls out office in Mumbai

Healthworld has launched operations in India, with four pharmaceutical companies as clients.

The India rollout of the WPP-owned Healthworld Communications -- under the Cordiant banner -- is part of Healthworld‚s strategy to tap Asia, with countries like China, Indonesia, Vietnam and Philippines on the radar, said Steven Girgenti, chairman and CEO, Healthworld Corporation. According to Mani, executive vice-president and general manager, the practice's strength lay in providing solutions and communications which go beyond the conventional route of dealing with just medical practitioners. The unit aims to provide tools such as patient mobilisation, medical education and various others vehicles of communication. "Continuing medical education is aimed at medical professionals, which will involve conducting seminars and coming out with white papers. In future, we are even looking at patient mobilisation for clinical research." Mani said that the priority would be to develop Mumbai into a strong offer before rolling out elsewhere. The India arm will be expected to develop expertise, with Girgenti adding: "The learning from this country will be useful in other markets."
