Conventions India to target foreign buyers

NEW DELHI Conventions India, the meetings and incentives event organised by the India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB), will be held in New Delhi on August 10-11 and organisers expect a record attendance

RM Puri, executive director, ICPB, said: "Last year, there were 250 domestic delegates and nine from abroad. This year we expect 300 from India and 25 to 30 buyers from overseas." The conference-cumexhibition will be hosted by the Taj Palace Hotel. "One of the objectives is to provide an opportunity for networking and strengthen the interaction between buyers from overseas and suppliers from Indian CEI companies. "We are also targeting corporate planners, multinational companies, local associations and other trade bodies to offer them a platform. This is in addition to supporting them during the bidding process for international conferences and marketing activities overseas," said Puri. Puri said the event would use the hotel's Durbar and Shah Jehan halls. " Durbar, which has a capacity of 1,200 is to be used for exhibition space, while the Shah Jehan is for the conference. We are also planning an inaugural dinner to be sponsored by the Delhi city government," said Puri. ICPB will introduce 'mini presentations', covering technology entertainment, and catering during events. Other sessions will discuss financing and events marketing.
