Cipla benefits from 'BE in Singapore' campaign

Indian pharmaceutical company Cipla held a conference for chest medicine specialists to introduce a new method of conferencing and medicine to combat pulmonary disease, while doctors were given a venue to present their research. Singaporean company The Traveller DMC and Rams Relationships from India had to ensure delegates had a worldclass experience in hospitality and logistics.

Challenges
This was the first time Cipla had hosted such a big conference. Both Kuala Lumpur and
Singapore were in the running to host the event and although costs in Singapore were much
higher, a subsidy from the Singapore Tourism Board’s ‘BE in Singapore’ scheme
helped sway the organisers. The iconic Colonial-era Cavenagh Bridge had to be
closed to pedestrians for a cocktail reception.

Execution
Detailed planning and cooperation between the organisers was needed to ensure smooth transfers for the 500 delegates. While the doctors had an enriching conference with interactive modules that kept them engaged, their spouses enjoyed itineraries customised to suit their holiday preferences. Interpreters had to be provided for the multinational group.

Verdict
The conference was a great success and met Cipla’s objectives. One delegate said:
“I attend up to 50 conferences a year, but this is the one I will remember. It has set a
benchmark in my mind that when I take out a few days from my practice to attend a
session as a guest, I deserve the best. I look forward to another one soon.”
Dr Jaideep Gogtay, medical director, Cipla, congratulated The Traveller DMC and Rams Relationship their seamless delivery.
“I thank both the agencies for giving us the right advice at the right time and helping
us host such a successful first conference,” he says.
