Chuo Senko spins off Thai PR unit

Chuo Senko has spun off its public relations unit as an independent firm to tap the growing potential for non-advertising services.

The new affiliate, called Be 1 Communications, will act as a total marketing communication agency, providing services such as public relations, community relations, crises management, marketing activities and media relations. Chuo Senko holds a 51 per cent stake in the company, while the remaining 49 per cent is partly held by company executives, including 14 per cent by Jongkolnee Subruenruay, the new firm's managing director. "Companies are now looking for alternative ways to communicate directly with the customers and create impact in the market in a cost-effective way," said Jongkolnee. "Also, with the elections round the corner, Government agencies are spending more money to improve their images." Be 1 Communications is the ninth subsidiary of Chuo Senko group, which is listed on the market for alternative investment. It currently has 10 employees and additional staff will be hired soon. The firm projects about 120 million baht (US$3 million) in total billings, with 20 per cent annual growth expected in subsequent years.
