Cho, who helped establish Publicis' Starcom media brand in Korea four years ago, has been appointed executive media director at Publicis' Korean JV, Publicis Welcomm, in charge of the planning division of the agency's media unit. Cho will work with buying head DooHak Lee to set up Publicis Welcomm's 30-strong team as a new country office for ZenithOptimedia this year.
Cho was executive media director at TBWA\Korea, where she helped secure the media business of Hyundai Card/Capital last year from BBDO, thought to be Korea's largest ever media account move.
TBWA has recruited Sung-Soo Han, formerly executive director of Korad's media department, to fill her shoes.
Publicis Welcomm began working with ZenithOptimedia in 2003, handling network clients like Hewlett Packard, LVMH, Allied Domecq and Puma. Key local business includes KT Telecom and Renault Samsung Motors.
In a separate development, Starcom has named Doug Pearce, MD of its Melbourne office, as a replacement for TS Chan as CEO of its operations in Greater China. Pearce, served as MD of Leo Burnett's Shanghai office before taking up the Melbourne post in October 2002.
