Casbaa launches anti-piracy push for Rugby World Cup

HONG KONG - With the Rugby World Cup kicking off this weekend and the English Premier League now underway, the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia has launched an anti-piracy campaign in Hong Kong.

The push, ‘Stay on side or risk a penalty’ uses imagery of a referee giving a player a red card to communicate its message.

According to Simon Twiston Davies, CEO of Casbaa, the campaign is targeting bars and clubs in Hong Kong, warning them to respect pay-TV content copyright and avoid engaging in signal piracy.

The move follows the recent out-of-court settlements involving several Wanchai establishments over last year’s football World Cup.
