Worthington is the former group CD at BBDO/AMV and Bartle Bogle Hegarty.
Over the last decade, he won 10 gold Lions, 11 D&AD Pencils, 10 gold British Television Advertising Awards, to name but a few.
His most notable work includes campaigns for Levis, Creek, Drugstore, Boddingtons, Polaroid, Wrangler and Dulux. He recently collected three gold awards at this year's Cannes festival for his 'Two Things at Once' campaign for the Department of Transport.
At Publicis Mojo Auckland, Worthington helps fill the gap opened by creative director Lachlan McPherson, who left in April to take up the post as creative director at the group's Sydney office.
At Auckland, Worthington joins creative director Andy Lockley. Worthington will take on a regional creative role, also working with Publicis Mojo Melbourne's Darren Spiller.
Publicis Worldwide global executive creative director David Droga said Worthington was a standout candidate for the job.
"Nick is genuinely one of our industry's brightest stars," Droga said.
"The only thing more impressive than his work is his consistency. Nick is a real coup for the network."
On a grander scale, Publicis Mojo Australia and New Zealand chairman Graeme Wills said Worthington's appointment fitted snugly with the agency's drive to accrue the world's best talent across the region.
"He will work on key projects within the region. He is truly world-class, a wonderful person and a tremendous addition to our already talented creative pool," said Wills.
