Burger King pitches creative ahead of mainland expansion

SHANGHAI - Burger King is believed to be in talks with two agencies about its mainland creative assignment, ahead of ambitious expansion plans in the country.

It is thought that the world’s second largest fastfood chain will assess presentations from Nitro and Y&R regarding its brand positioning in China.

At present Burger King counts just 12 stores in China, well behind KFC’s 2,000 and McDonald’s 800, but has earmarked the mainland, and Asia in general, for rapid expansion over the next five years.

Representatives from both agencies declined to comment, while Burger King did not respond at press time.
