Best Carings picks TBWA for creative

HO CHI MINH CITY - Best Carings, an electronics retail group, has appointed TBWA to spearhead an aggressive marketing push in Vietnam.

The Japan-Vietnam joint-venture has plans to become the country's leading electronics retailer within five years, and wants to be seen as a model for modern retailing.

The Omnicom agency has been briefed to develop a three-year communications plan, and will handle creative and brand strategy for the next 12 months.

Best Carings currently operates two stores in Vietnam; one in Hanoi, another in Can Tho, and plans to open eight more over the next three years in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang and other large cities.

The appointment is one of two won by TBWA\Vietnam in recent weeks. The agency also secured a creative brief for GainPlus, a powdered milk brand from Abbott, the pharmaceuticals firm.

Abbott will be launching a new product in July and TBWA has been tasked to create a launch campaign.

"Our growth strategy is about winning and creating outstanding work for leading Vietnamese as well as international brands. We’re not just an international agency looking for international clients," said Julian Nguyen, the MD of TBWA\Vietnam.
