BBDO gears up to launch new look for Taiwan Govt

The Taiwan Government is to launch a new visual identity it can use to represent the island abroad.

The logo will eschew politically-sensitive imagery that may impact on Taiwan's relations with mainland China, while aiming to give the Taiwanese people something they can identify with. Taiwan's Government Information Office (GIO), which handles all the island's government communications, recently chose an image designed by advertising agency BBDO after putting the task up for competitive tender. The look will be deployed abroad at events such as overseas promotions, trade shows and sporting events. The Government has recently stepped up efforts to raise its profile on the international stage. BBDO is planning to make some final adjustments to the logo and help with a slogan to accompany it before the new identity gets a public airing. "The whole project will include a lot of activity, both to people in Taiwan, and possibly to people overseas," commented BBDO's Asia-Pacific chairman, Raymond So. Taiwan's GIO may hold a media tender later in the year to help select an agency to steer the use of the logo abroad.
