SYDNEY The Australian Tourist Commission (ATC) has restructured its operations in Asia, aimed at "delivering an increased focus on industry servicing" for the corporate events industry. ATC executive general manager, eastern hemisphere Mr Richard Beere said the changes to operations would streamline ATC activities across Asia and "provide greater efficiency and effectiveness for all programmes". "The ATC will create new positions across the region to focus on industry servicing (and) business tourism…the changes provide greater expertise and specialist skills for key areas of businesses and ensure all areas of our operations are resourced. "We will move away from running operations by country, and will operate by functions (including), business tourism and corporate services." Mr Beere said the ATC would continue its operations in Malaysia, however the head office for South and South East Asia would move to Singapore. "Our team in Malaysia will continue to have responsibility for servicing the industry, as well as regional responsibility for a new training and trade events team," he said.
