AsiaWorld-Expo names new COO

HONG KONG AsiaWorld-Expo has named Lau Hak Wah as its new chief operating officer.

Lau has held senior positions with the Housing Department, the Civil Aviation Department and, immediately prior to this appointment, the Airport Authority Hong Kong. During his tenure at the Airport Authority Hong Kong, he supervised a series of high-profile projects including the 1997 Handover programme and the 1998 World Bank Conference. Welcoming the new member to the team, Nicolas Borit, chief executive officer of AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited said: "HW is highly experienced in facility management and has a successful track record of service partnership management. "He has demonstrated major achievements in service quality and efficiency through win-win partnership approaches." Lau will be responsible for overseeing the day-today operations of Asia-World-Expo. He will also head up all related departments including technical support, catering, security and logistics. Borit added: "We are confident that we'll all benefit from Lau's expertise in enhancing the operations of Hong Kong's newest and largest exhibition and events centre." Lau said: "This is an exciting and challenging position and I look forward to building on what has been an impressive opening period for this world-class facility."
