StarHub steps up pace to woo subscribers for new HDTV package

SINGAPORE - StarHub has launched a commercial high definition television (HDTV) service in Singapore, touted as the first such package in Southeast Asia. Called 'HD Plus', the package includes the Discovery and National Geographic channels.

To sign up for HD Plus, consumers must first subscribe to at least three basic groups in StarHub's current pay-TV programming. They also need to purchase an HD set-top box, along with an HD-ready TV.

"StarHub is constantly enhancing its customers' TV viewing experience. Our introductions of digital cable in 2004, Demand TV in 2005 and Smart TV in 2006 are examples of how we give customers more control over what they watch, and when they watch their favourite programmes," said Terry Clontz, StarHub's president and CEO.
