Starcom Singapore digital chief leaves for Tribal DDB

SINGAPORE - Starcom Singapore's head of digital Christer Eriksson is leaving the agency after four months in the job to run DDB's digital unit.

The move, according to Starcom, was by mutual consent. A replacement has already been found and will be announced later this month.

Since his arrival to fill the gap left by Mark Newton in May, Eriksson has rebuilt Starcom IP, hiring replacements for Lee Yew Leong and Benjamin Yeow, who departed the agency for MindShare in June.

Eriksson will link with Martin Loo, who joins from Wieden & Kennedy Shanghai - where he was head of digital creative - as creative director of Tribal DDB Singapore. Eriksson joins as head of digital strategy as well as Tribal GM.

"We are ushering in a new way of thinking where digital is not just a specialist division, but a skill set which feeds the main agency as well as DDB Health and Rapp Collins," said David Tang, president and CEO of DDB Singapore.

Separately, Ascension UK planner Simon Kemp has joined Starcom MediaVest Group as the network’s Southeast Asia consumer context planner.

Reporting to Mark Bowling, head of insight development and CCP for Asia, Kemp will have an additional reporting line into BG Gan, CEO Starcom Singapore. Kemp will be responsible for driving the agency’s SEA business and improving insight development with a focus on holistic communications strategies.

During his time at Ascension, a communications planning consultancy, Kemp garnered experience in Asia through a number of projects for brands including Stella Artois, Cadbury and Unilever.
