Starcom Indonesia's managing director Lisa Ong said the agency created the role as it was looking to boost senior leadership in a market, which boasts one of the region's fastest-growing adex rates year-on-year.
"With sustained growth over the years, the emphasis is on delivering consistently high quality solutions to our clients," said Ong. "Therefore we need to boost senior leadership in the office."
Ranganathan was named one of 2004's top 10 account stars by Media for playing a critical role in securing the Microsoft business for Starcom MediaVest Malaysia, and subsequently re-allocating the brand's budget across a more diverse media selection.
Prior to joining Starcom Malaysia, Ranganathan worked with MediaCom in India, leading teams on Procter & Gamble, Britannia, Wrigley and BAT.
Ong said Ranganathan has been tasked with "lifting our work to gold standards, whether it be conventional or emerging media".
