Sister firms bag Australia PR task for Nagoya Expo

CANBERRA: Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade has awarded a A$1.5 million contract to Ogilvy PR's public affairs arm Parker & Partners (P&P) and PRAP Japan, which is 20 per cent owned by Ogilvy PR, to leverage Australia's involvement in World Expo in Nagoya in 2005.

The account, which involves public affairs and media relations, will be led out of Canberra. It is believed four firms were shortlisted from an initial tender list of 10 that reportedly included Weber Shandwick, Grey and Burson-Marsteller. This is the second time the sister firms have worked together after 2003's work on Cochlear hearing implants. Media coverage will focus on attracting sponsors, driving awareness among Japanese living in Australia, encouraging people to visit the expo and promoting Australia as a destination.
