Ong will focus on a series of digital communications programmes to boost UM’s business capabilities and resources for clients in Shanghai and Guangzhou, and work closely with the digital communications portfolio managed by Shane Crombie.
“Sophia has overseen the development of award-winning digital work while leading the Taipei office. We see clear avenues for her talent in China and we are looking forward to having her on the team,” said Universal McCann China CEO Manpreet Singh.
Succeeding Ong in Taipei is Elle Huang, who takes over the UM Taiwan leadership role after joining from sister media agency Initiative Media earlier this year.
