Ogilvy Singapore moves Mangham to chairman post

Ogilvy & Mather has appointed Stephen Mangham to the position of Singapore group chairman. Mangham relocates from Ogilvy Taiwan where he spent over two years as managing director, and takes over a role that was handled in an interim capacity by Asia-Pacific vice-chairman Tim Isaac.

Mangham noted that the offer was too good to turn down, particularly given Ogilvy Singapore's creative heritage.

"The one clear difference here is the strength of creative across the board," he said. "One of the reasons I was so keen is that it's very much across the board, and evenly spread. I get the chance to work with the top creatives, which is a major attraction."

Prior to joining Ogilvy Taiwan, Mangham was at JWT Poland, and also spent 14 years at Saatchis in Europe. He believes that the lessons he learned in foreign environments will continue to prove valuable, as they did in Taiwan.

"I learned the importance of coming to markets with an open mind and without preconceived ideas," said Mangham. "One of the reasons (Taiwan) worked out was because it wasn't the first time I'd worked in a foreign environment."

Before Isaac, the Singapore group chairman role was held by Andy Greenaway, now executive creative director at Saatchis Southeast Asia.
