Ogilvy Beijing takes on IHS PR brief

BEIJING - Ogilvy PR Beijing is rolling out a communications strategy for IHS, after the global energy consultancy handed its regional PR brief to the agency, following a global pitch late last year.

While Ogilvy took on global duties on the IHS business, the Beijing office has been tasked with building awareness in key Asian markets, particularly China, according to Ogilvy PR head of regional planning and strategy, Alex Acker.

"The key objective is really to build thought leadership and recognition of all the work they are doing," said Acker.

"Basically, they provide the data and insights into where new energy is being discovered.'
Acker added the agency will look at traditional media and trade channels, but will also "look beyond media, at energy forums and speaking platforms."

The new business comes as the agency also picks up a new five-year campaign for the government of Switzerland, to help bolster its appeal as a trade, tourism and investment destination in China.

In addition, the agency has bolstered its expansion in China, hiring a new associate director in Beijing to oversee public affairs, and a director to lead its Guangzhou office.

Joe Zhou takes on the public affairs role, after 15 years of service at the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, including eight years with Chinese diplomatic missions overseas.

Meanwhile, Frangelica Liang joins the Guangzhou office after nine years at BAT, during which she worked across trade marketing, and brand and channel management. Prior to BAT, Liang worked at Ketchum Newscan in Guangzhou.
