Kaajal Shivdasani has been appointed CEO of The Nanson, a new private members club located on the site of the former 1880 at Robertson Quay, Singapore. On LinkedIn, she expressed excitement about working with a passionate team to revive a much-missed social space in Singapore. Shivdasani brings over 20 years of experience in FMCG and consumer marketing, most recently serving as marketing director, Asia, for Häagen-Dazs Brand Development at General Mills, where she led marketing teams across emerging markets, including Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America (excluding China and Brazil). She was recognised as a Campaign Asia Powerlister in 2023, reflecting her knack for bringing entrepreneurial instincts to product launches and campaigns in many regions.
Maersk has appointed WPP Media as its new global marketing partner to oversee marketing efforts across 130 countries from a central hub in Copenhagen. The partnership aims to bring more agility, innovation, and efficiency through data-driven insights using WPP’s AI-powered platform, Open, along with its Open Media Studio. The collaboration covers five regions, including APAC, where WPP Media will help optimise campaigns with local market relevance alongside global consistency.
Droga5 ANZ, part of Accenture Song, has won the creative account for Transport for New South Wales’ Road and Maritime Safety portfolio following a competitive pitch. The agency will develop behaviour change campaigns targeting drink driving, speeding, driver fatigue, enforcement, and maritime safety, with creative work already underway on a motorcycle safety campaign.
Matt Michael, Droga5 ANZ CEO, said the partnership will “create effective and impactful work that improves the safety of NSW.” The win adds to a string of recent successes for Droga5 ANZ. In June, Optus appointed Accenture Song Media and Droga5 as its new media and creative agencies. The agency also picked up University of Auckland in August, and Tourism Australia last year, following the absorption of The Monkeys into Droga5.
Omnicom Media Group (OMG) agency PHD has appointed Melissa Chen as general manager of Taiwan, effective immediately to lead operations, strategy, and capabilities. She reports to Kelly Huang, CEO of OMG Taiwan, with a dotted line to Eileen Ooi, CEO of PHD APAC. Chen brings over a decade of brand and marketing leadership experience, most recently as head of marketing for Uber Eats Taiwan. She was named to Campaign Asia’s 40 Under 40 (2023) and Women to Watch APAC (2022) and has represented Taiwan as a judge at global industry awards, including Cannes Lions and the Effies.
Communications agency Weber Shandwick has promoted Shashikanth Someshwar to chief executive officer of Weber Shandwick India, effective October 1, to lead a team of more than 150 people across Mumbai, Gurgaon, and Bengaluru. Someshwar has held leadership roles across corporate and consumer practices before stepping in as interim managing director of India earlier this year.
