Li departs Carat for new China venture

HONG KONG - Carat will not seek a replacement for outgoing Hong Kong MD Stewart Li, choosing instead to place the office under the management of Singapore CEO Richard Leong.

Li departs the agency for a new venture in China, after three years at its Hong Kong office. Carat has responded by promoting Pauline Chu to the role of GM.

According to Aegis Media Greater China chief executive officer KF Lee, as a result of the new management structure, Leong will oversee the full range of the holding company’s brands in the two offices, including Posterscope and Isobar.

“There will be a bigger synergy set up from two important regional hubs,” said Leong.
“By combining their resources and talents, we can strengthen our ability to serve the global accounts and tackle the growing business in Asia-Pacific” .

Li’s departure comes after Carat Hong Kong vice president Rudi Leung left the company earlier this year.
“In the last three years, the agency has been evolving from a media planning and buying agency to an integrated agency with strong communications planning and digital offering,” Li said.
