HEADLINES: IHT, Asahi Shimbun sign partnership
<p>The International Herald Tribune and the Asahi Shimbun have formed </p><p>a publishing partnership in Japan. It is the second such venture </p><p>undertaken by the IHT over the past few months; the first involved </p><p>Korea's JoongAng Ilbo. Globally, the newspaper now has a total of seven </p><p>similar partnerships. </p><p><BR><BR> </p><p>Under the latest arrangement, the Asahi Shimbun will close publication </p><p>of the English-language Asahi Evening News and will integrate a more </p><p>concise version of that newspaper into the IHT. This new editorial </p><p>section will appear in all copies of the IHT sold in Japan. The target </p><p>date for publication is the second quarter of this year. </p><p><BR><BR> </p>
