Event wins put Hong Kong on positive track

Hong Kong has bucked the global trend of event cancellations

HONG KONG Hong Kong has bucked the global trend of event cancellations and won bids for a number of major conventions that will bring over 115,000 corporate delegates to the city by 2010. Among the top wins are US-based direct-sales company Unicity Network, which will hold its corporate meeting in Hong Kong in August 2002. The event is expected to attract up to 8,000 delegates. "Hong Kong Tourist Board (HKTB) has always placed emphasis on these high-yield segments," HKTB general manager tourism and convention marketing Ms Ellen Kwan said.
