Eschenbacher quits OgilvyOne for Tribal

BEIJING - OgilvyOne Asia-Pacific ECD Dirk Eschenbacher is departing the network to become regional ECD of Tribal DDB.

Eschenbacher departs OgilvyOne after six years at its Beijing office, during which time he oversaw both the local and regional operations, focusing in particular on Motorola.

His Moto duties will be assumed by Michael Chu, who becomes regional digital creative director on Ogilvy’s Team Moto. Meanwhile, Ba Qing Wang will join OgilvyOne Beijing as ECD. Eschenbacher joins Tribal DDB less than a month after Amanda King succeeded Adam Good as the network’s regional president and managing partner.

“We’ve got some fantastic creative talent but I just want Tribal to be one of the best,” said King.

“Dirk has got an amazing reputation.” OgilvyOne Asia-Pacific president Kent Wertime noted that the split was an “amicable” one.

“(Eschenbacher) just wants a new challenge and from our point of view, we wish him well.”
