Rolling out on Cable TV and Hong Kong Broadband, the channel will feature locally-produced live talk shows on a range of health and lifestyle topics. Viewers can communicate in realtime with the shows and make appearances via webcam or 3G-enabled mobile phones.
In addition, a Filipino segment of programming will target Hong Kong’s 100,000-strong Filipino community.
The Interactive Channel founder Robert Chua noted that the channel would target a range of health and lifestyle advertisers, such as health products, food and exercise equipment.
“Our current challenge is to create more eyeballs, as it will take time for the channel to grow,” said Chua. “We hope media agencies don’t just go for the proven track record of big media outlets like TVB, Apple Daily and Oriental Daily. We also hope agencies won’t avoid recommending new media channels to their clients, even though they could be relevant.”
Chua added that HK$5 million (US$642,000) had been invested into the new channel launch, and that an MOU with Guangdong TV has been signed to provide content.
