His shift is expected to mean extra responsibility for newly promoted copywriters Andrew Hook and Jury Gregorio, who moved to creative director and associate creative roles, respectively, at the beginning of this month.
Gaxiola joined Batey from BatesAsia following the loss of Nokia in September. He succeeded Ng Tian It, who joined from McCann Erickson in November 2006.
Gaxiola and Batey were unavailable for comment.
