SINGAPORE - Omnicom Media Group (OMG) has appointed Ranga Somanathan, previously COO of Southeast Asia and head of global network clients for Starcom Mediavest Group, to lead Singapore and Malaysia as CEO.

Prior to his most recent role, he led VivaKi Malaysia, which included Starcom Mediavest Group and Optimedia.

He will work alongside the senior-management team and leads for OMD and PHD, reporting to Jasmin Sohrabji, CEO for OMG in Southeast Asia and India.

Somanathan, who goes by "Ranga', replaces Sony Wong in Singapore, who will be leaving at the end of the year for an early retirement after more than five years with the company. In Malaysia, he takes over from Andreas Vogiatzakis, who recently stepped down as CEO to expand Havas’ operations in the country.

“The realignment of leadership under a single leader reflects the common synergies of Singapore and Malaysia,” said Sohrabji. “Ranga wil ensure we continue to deliver our objective of being the very best we can across all our operations.”
