Mortein Australia revives 55-year old fly for latest spots

AUSTRALIA - Mortein's 55-year old mascot, Louie the Fly, returns to television with three new animated spots from Havas Worldwide and Cutting Edge.

Last year, Louie the Fly amassed over 250,000 votes in a campaign to save the icon, when a proposal was floated to finally exterminate him.

“We've built a community of over 270,000 fans since introducing Louie to Facebook via last year's 'Kill or Save Louie' campaign', said Steve Coll, ECD of Havas Worldwide.

The latest campaign gives Louie an updated look in three animated spots: 'Crime scene' (featured above), 'Don’t fear the spray' and 'Locked out'.

'Crime scene' and 'Locked out' are currently airing, but 'Don't fear the spray' will only go live on November 25.

The creative team was led by Coll, director Phil Meatchem and Cutting Edge VFX Supervisor Ron Roberts.
