Starbucks opens Reserve location in Tianjin

The Starbucks Reserve Riverside 66 Tianjin flagship store is in a beautifully restored former bank dating to 1921.

Starbucks latest 'Reserve' store, in China's fourth-largest city Tianjin, is in Riverside 66, a restored 1920s building that over the years served as the Zhejiang Xinye Bank, a high-end tailor shop and a foreign trade mall—before sitting vacant for two decades.

The company says it worked with preservation experts on the project, which features a Greek-style exterior façade, a massive glass dome, imported marble columns and marble carvings. The work also preserved the original bank counters and used bronze tubes to hold lighting, eliminating the need to drill into the marble columns.

The store includes not only a Teavana bar but also a 'Bar Mixato', which offers more than 30 cocktails, wines, and craft beers, including—of course—signature cocktails with coffee and tea flavours.
