Zenith, OMD battle for Bright media

SHANGHAI - Bright Dairy has shortlisted two contenders for its mammoth Rmb 300 million (US$40 million) media buying and planning business.

The movie will pit six-year incumbent Zenith Media against OMD.

It is thought that a number of agencies participated in the first round of the pitch, which does not include CCTV buying, handled in-house by the company. The review covers all other aspects of Bright’s 2008 media buying and planning operations.

The pitch comes after French dairy giant Danone sold its 20 per cent stake in Bright Dairy earlier this year, largely because its own brands were competing with Bright’s.

Bright is China’s fourth-largest seller of milk products, but has lost ground in recent years to Yili and Mengniu - who together account for 60 per cent of the market.
