Y&R Thailand pools planning

BANGKOK - Y&R Thailand is launching a strategic planning unit named Energy Division.

The new unit, which opens for business next week, will be run by Oliver Kittipong Veeratawcha, Y&R Thailand’s strategic brand planning manager. He will take on the roles of director of strategy and brand consultant.

Energy will also fall under the portfolio of Y&R’s group CEO Sohn Chongsrichan (pictured), who now oversees Y&R and sister shops Wunderman and Monday. According to Chongsrichan, the new unit - which has 12 staff - was created to streamline Y&R’s planning capabilities.

“It is not ideal to have three different planning departments within the group. With Energy Division, we pulled our planning resources into one unit to serve all the three agencies,” explained Sohn.

In addition to serving the needs of Y&R shops, Energy will also be working with external clients on branding and communications.

“There are a lot of opportunities in Thailand for brand consultancy work. We aim to provide brand consulting services, working on strategy insights and analysis for our clients,” Sohn added.
