The move is part of a reshuffle by new Young & Rubicam global CEO Hamish McLennan, with previous Y&R North America CEO Gord McLean taking on a new role as global managing partner.
Jaques, who will also run Y&R's New York operation, said: "Across the board, the single biggest thing is transforming the new business performance of North America. It's been stable for the last year, but there has been a period which takes any agency a while to recover from."
Pointing to the "roller-coaster ride" that Y&R had endured during its recent history, Jaques said: "You cannot succeed in a senior management position in Asia without building a culture in a company," he said.
Jaques will retain his Asia chairman role until a successor is found, said McLennan.
