“We had a very short experience working with Haier,” said Y&R China chairman Tom Kao. “It’s a shame we could not work any further with (new Haier CMO) Larry Rinaldi. Y&R globally is picking up LG and we have to find a way to work with LG in China.” The development comes after increasing speculation last year that Haier was unhappy with the work Y&R had produced for its Olympics campaign, which is still to air.
“The truth is that I think it was more or less mutual,” added Rinaldi. “There were serious questions with respect to the work. The LG assignment was timely for all concerned.”
“Obviously, it’s an amicable seperation,” said Kao. “But we are trying to resolve remaining issues, primarily financial-related. We hope Haier will respect that agreement.”
