Y&R beefs up China ops

Y&R has vowed to raise its profile in China with an aggressive new business drive, after beefing up its senior management. <BR><BR> In a key move for the agency, recently-appointed Greater China CEO Wei Wei Chen (pictured) has lured former Dentsu head of marketing and strategic planning Madison Chang to take up a newly-created post, vice president of strategic planning, marking the first time Y&R has had a senior planner in China. <BR><BR> Chen has also appointed Fred Tong as executive creative director for Shanghai, although Chen confirmed part of Tong's role would involve supporting the Beijing and Guangzhou offices as the need arises. <BR><BR> "We have not promoted our strategic planning tools loudly in this market, and we really need to start promoting the brand in China," said Chen.
