Y&R Approach appoints Korey Yu as GM

SHANGHAI - Y&R Approach, the activation arm of Y&R and a joint-venture with China's largest field marketing company, Dawson, has appointed Korey Yu (pictured) as the newly created GM post.

Yu will be on board in late November, based in Shanghai and will report to Tom Kao, chairman Greater China, Y&R and Dawson Deng, the founder and Chairman of the Dawson Group in Guangzhou.

Kao explained Yu’s main tasks are to drive and grow the agency’s multinational businesses, to steer our new business development and most importantly to build our team and to enhance overall professional standard, and manage all Y&R Approach resources and clients, including Colgate, Danone, Starbucks, Garden, Unicharm, and Chow Tai Fook in China.

Yu is Hong Kongers with 13 years of retail marketing experience focusing on below-the-line to through-the-line brand leadership emphasizing on consumer last mile activation (including 11 years in China), he was most recently the national operations director at Euro RSCG 4D in Shanghai and Beijing for the last three-and-a-half years.

Prior to that, he was with Ogilvy Action and Ogilvy Advertising in China for 4 years, and before that five years with L&M Promotions in Hong Kong, and has worked with clients such as P&G, Tsingtao, Swanson (the launch activation in China in 2007), Johnny Walker, Chivas, among others.

"Retail marketing and engagement is the second hottest marketing segment in China after digital right now," said Yu.
