The source added that “there will be a lot of interest” in the business and expects “most local agencies” to vie for the account.
According to the tender’s dossier, the virtual world will allow users to play athletic-themed games, explore the virtual Youth Olympic Village and interact with other users from across the globe.
The tender was called last week and is open until 27 April and follows Chinese portal host Tencent’s announcement one year ago of its plans to construct a similar site for the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.
Singapore won the bid to host the Youth Olympics Games last year, edging out nine other cities. It is expected to bring in 3,200 teenage athletes and occurs once every four years.
