Yolk expands into Thailand

BANGKOK - Singaporean digital agency, Yolk, has entered into a joint venture with Thai marketing consultancy, U5OK, to set up shop in Thailand.

The Singapore-based agency will bring its digital capabilities to work on clients of its Thai counterparts, which include BMW Asia, Thai Airways, Singha Beer, Bumrungrad International Hospital, Pepsi and Pretty Fit.

"The Thai digital market is very new to us but it’s constantly being fuelled by new trends and creativity," said Prakash Somosundram (pictured), co-founder and director of Yolk.

"It’s a natural extension for us to seek a bigger market and audience where clients are likely to invest more in digital. We want to hit the market with our content and expand our client base there as well."

"We have finally found the right partner to bring our brand expertise and advertising know-how to the digital world," said Dr. Jens Niedzielski, president of U5OK.

"Not only can we complete our 360 service portfolio, but we’ll be able to provide digital communication services on the level that matches our own corporate philosophy to integrate the online business into the marketing scope of existing and new clients."

Paul Leenutaphong, ex-marketing director of Peugeot Thailand, has been drafted to oversee the new unit - U5OK Yolk, as managing director.

"Paul’s got a strong passion for digital plus he’s well-connected to the business sector here. His background in motoring also adds value to the work we do with BMW Asia," added Benjamin Tan, COO of Yolk.

Following the launch in Thailand, the interactive firm will also be seeking tie-ups to launch similar digital entities in Malaysia and Sydney later in the year.
