YesTV acquires regional NFL rights

HONG KONG - Hong Kong-based YesTV has secured the regional distribution rights for the National Football League (NFL) previously held by incumbent ESPN Star Sports (ESS), just days before the broadcast of the opening round of matches.

Under the terms of the agreement, YesTV will broadcast at least two games weekly on the network’s football channel, GoalTV, with an option for several more.

Lloyd Chao, president, Yes Media, noted deals were sill being finalised with terrestrial and cable partners. “We have secured these rights quite late in the game, but it’s a fairly big coup for us. We’re quite happy,” said Chao.

“We hope this will really open a new range of advertisers and build another group of viewers across different sports lines.” YesTV will also have access for the playoff rounds, the Pro Bowl and the Superbowl.
