Taiwan beat 29 other countries and regions earlier this year to win the bid to host the 2011 International Design Alliance (IDA) Congress scheduled between 24 and 26 October next year.
The IDA congress is expected to draw over 3, 000 design professionals from across the world and over one million visitors.
In order to promote this event as well as to promote the island's design industry using this event, local governments in Taipei has decided to label 2011 as the 'Year of Design', and hold dozens of exhibitions, contests and other events.
The total advertising budget for the 'Year of Design' is NT$30 million (US$990,000). Four agencies entered the second round of pitches and Taiwan Dentsu emerged as the winner in October.
According to Jessica Chung from the Taiwan Design Center, proposals from all the four agencies were quite similar, and Denstu excelled in its logicality.
