Yahoo China chief quits

SHANGHAI - Xie Wen, just 40 days into his tenure as president of Yahoo China, has quit his position, purportedly for personal reasons.

A spokesperson for Yahoo China's owner Alibaba.com said Xie, who formally joined the company on October 17, resigned for personal reasons but wouldn't elaborate, according to Reuters.

Xie, who was previously chief executive for Chinese financial portal Hexun.com, will become a strategic advisor to Alibaba.

Alibaba is in the midst of revamping Yahoo China.
