Wunderman taps Gibbins to head China operations

Wunderman has restructured its China operations and has named Anchalee Gibbins as managing director to replace outgoing general manager Scott Silverman.

The overhaul will see Wunderman managed as a national organisation from 2006, incorporating offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guang-zhou and Chongping, which, until now, have operated independently. Gibbins will head up the new organisation structure, reporting to Chris Jaques, CEO at Wunderman Asia and Y&R. She will continue to hold her current role as director of strategy. The Wunderman restructuring follows the global realignment of the Motorola account, and was prompted after Wunderman's client Ford relocated its operations from Beijing to Shanghai. "The Shanghai office will be up and running next week and we will have the whole team there. Beijing will have full service capabilities, but Shanghai will be the focus for Ford," said Gibbins. "We will be taking on Hong Kong projects as well. We previously only had the client service in Shanghai and the production in Beijing. Now, with the commitment to the client, we have a full service team. We also have more business from Microsoft and the Singapore Tourism Board, which is relocating to Beijing." sm
