WSJA names new MD

Dow Jones has named a former regional head of Hachette Filippachi, Christine Brendle, as the new MD for the Wall Street Journal Asia. Brendle, who has been working as a consultant to the media industry since leaving Hachette in 2001, replaces Winnie Wong, who recently departed Dow Jones after eight years with the company. She also succeeds Wong as MD of monthly, Far Eastern Economic Review. Brendle's career with Hachette spanned 17 years, including six as Asia Pacific head from 1995 to 2001. She officially takes the helm at the Journal at the beginning of February, following a much-publicised switch from a broadsheet to compact format last October.
