WSJ Asia appoints editor-in-chief

ASIA-PACIFIC - The Wall Street Journal Asia has promoted Almar Latour (pictured) to the newly created post of editor-in-chief, Asia, charged with growing both the Wall Street Journal's print and online editions.

In the position, Latour will oversee strategic operations for The Wall Street Journal Asia, Asia.WSJ.com, Chinese.WSJ.com, India.WSJ.com and the new Japanese-language site.

He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Robert Thomson, editor-in-chief of Dow Jones & Company and managing editor of The Wall Street Journal.

As the current managing editor of WSJ.com, Latour’s appointment also promotes international news editor for the Journal in New York Rebecca Blumenstein to Latour’s vacated post.

Blumenstein, who is the Journal’s former China bureau chief, will report to the Journal’s deputy managing editor Alan Murray.

Both appointments will become effective this summer.
