WPP to acquire Chinese healthcare agency

SHANGHAI - WPP-owned healthcare marketing agency Sudler & Hennessey is looking to expand its presence in China with the acquisition of domestic healthcare specialist MDS, which operates in Shanghai and Beijing.

The WPP firm will take a 60 per cent stake in the company subject to regulatory approvals, according to a statement.

MDS’ client portfolio includes Bayer, Pfizer, Sanofi-Aventis, Sanofi-Pasteur, and Schering Plough. The agency has a staff of 50, with revenues of around $1.3 million as of last December.
