WPP shops secure Indonesia bank

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia International (BII) has awarded its creative and media accounts to Ogilvy & Mather and MindShare respectively, following a competitive pitch believed to have included Dentsu, Lowe, Hotlink, Artek and Dm Pratama.

The win will see Ogilvy take control of the bank’s product branding and strategy, along with its corporate communications platform. BII ranks in the top 10 largest banks in Indonesia, and is owned by Singapore investment company Temasek Holdings. It competes with local players such as Bank Mandiri, BNI, BRI and Bank Danamon.

“It’s a good victory for us, because it has been a while since we have had a bank client within our roster,” said Joseph Tan, managing director, Ogilvy & Mather Advertising Indonesia. “BII has been using a number of different agencies to handle different parts of the business, but it was interested in consolidating the business.”
