Whitehead departs Discovery

SINGAPORE - Mark Whitehead, senior vice-president at Discovery Networks Asia is reported to have resigned from his current role. Sources suggest that Whitehead is currently serving out his notice period.

Whitehead's most recent title was senior VP of revenue, overseeing ad sales and channel distribution across Asia-Pacific.

He joined Discovery Networks Asia as vice-president of advertising sales in July 2002. Prior to joining Discovery Networks, Whitehead was the vice-president of ad sales at CNN Asia. He has also worked with CNN in Europe, and with BBH and McCann Erickson advertising agencies in London.

It is not clear what Whitehead's plans are but industry insiders say that he is looking at a role with BBC Global Channels Asia.

A Discovery Networks spokesperson declined to comment on the development.
